Narrative

On 17 October 1956 at 1020Z (night), an observer (reportedly a prisoner) near Tehachapi, California reported an egg-shaped red object directly overhead. The object was 5 miles west of observer's location, descended slowly then ascended over 1020 ft level. The witness was looking around the area and saw the object. Weather was very clear with a bright moon. Reported by 2nd Lt Thomas A. Eichstadt and 1st Lt Charles R. Hoskins, intelligence officer, Hq 27th Air Div Def.
