Narrative
At 2107 local on 7 March 1953, unidentified objects appeared on GCA radar at Ashiya Air Base, Japan, and were seen visually by GCA and tower operators. First object appeared for 8-10 minutes at 1000 ft altitude, white unfocused light, hovering then descending to 500 ft (changing to yellow), then climbing back and disappearing at 2145. Estimated 6 miles distant moving east to northwest. An F-94 from Itazuke AFB made 6-8 runs in the area for 20 minutes with negative visual and radar contact. Additional radar blips appeared 2205-2212 in pairs at 1/4 to 3/4 mile range moving 240-300 mph at 200-1000 ft altitudes; not visually sighted. No unusual sounds. Crash boat search yielded only sardine boats with white carbide lights.
