Narrative
At 1802 MST on 26 May 1955, a 19-year-old Southern Pacific Railroad employee from California, off duty in Yuma, accidentally observed a purple sphere with orange leading edge that travelled in a brief downward course toward the ground in the west for two seconds, trailing skywriter-like smoke. The brevity of the sighting precluded further investigation.
