Narrative

On 30 July 1955 at 0445Z near Columbus, Nebraska, an observer reported five round lights (four orange, one white) appearing similar to an explosion and back together again. The objects were at 1,000 feet, moving south to east like a yo-yo, and faded as they went through clouds. Duration 5 minutes via ground visual with binoculars. Cloudy conditions. Bridesmaid reported no balloon activity in area; weather balloons aloft from Sioux at approximately 0300Z. Reporting officer concluded unknown.
