Narrative

On 23 August 1956 around 0250Z, a 29-year-old housewife in northern Buffalo, New York, observed a round orange object while returning home from work at GOC. The object was at very high altitude, between 300 and 320 degrees, with a northwest heading over the city but moving higher. Through field glasses, the observer noted a small crater on the object and a fiery gas exhaust. The object faded over the course of approximately one hour of observation.
