Narrative

On 10 January 1956 at 0120Z, a Tri-Pacer pilot at 4,000 ft heading 250 degrees observed a light changing color red-to-green-to-white at approximately 2,000 feet altitude approximately 28 miles SW of Chanute AFB, Illinois. The night was clear with 10 miles visibility, scattered clouds at 30,000 ft, winds NNW at 18 knots. Two T-6s based at Chanute AFB searched the area but found nothing. The 1478th Flight Service Squadron at Wright-Patterson AFB filed the report. Capt. M.F. Lybarger signed. The 4602D AISS concluded insufficient data for evaluation.
