Narrative
At 0135 Zulu (1735 PST) on 23 November 1954, four or five unidentified objects in formation were sighted near Edwards AFB at the east end of Muroc Dry Lake. The sighting was reported via March AFB on 23 November 1954. Investigation involved multiple sources including military observers from the Air Force Flight Test Center and a civilian from Pacific Coast Borax Company. Source descriptions noted the objects' brightness, speed, change in flight path, and apparent smoke emissions. The preponderance of aircraft in the vicinity and reliability assessments led the preparing officer to conclude the sightings were aircraft.
