Narrative

On 31 May 1956 at 1700Z, a single white object resembling an aircraft but half the size of an airliner type unknown was observed over Flushing, Long Island. The object followed an airliner aircraft at approximately 15,000 feet, then eventually passed the airliner with a great burst of speed before fading from sight. Sighting lasted 5-10 minutes. A photograph was taken with an 8x11 camera, film forwarded to headquarters. Lt Bushman, CIC/DO, concluded the object was probably a jet-type aircraft accounting for size and speed.
