JEDLS 02H — 1956-11-27 — Millville, New Jersey (due east side of city)
Narrative
At 2700Z on 27 November 1956, an observer (Mrs. Barber) near Millville, New Jersey airport reported an object with 4 lights at each end. The object circled, hovered, then took off rapidly to the northeast toward Hammonton, NJ at fairly low altitude (approximately 1500 ft). Duration was two to three minutes. Night and cloudy conditions; searchlights operating in the vicinity. Captain Jaino K. Thompson of the Olmsted Flight Service Center concluded the sighting was likely an optical illusion created by cloudy conditions with searchlights playing about.
