Narrative

At 2315Z on 20 May 1956, the Columbia, Tennessee GOC Post (CF35B) reported sighting four or more unknown flying objects four or five miles ESE of the post between two banks of clouds on a generally clear and sunny day. Objects described as somewhat flat and round, reflecting or flashing light. Generally hovering but also moving up and down and sideways. Altitude estimated 20-30,000 feet. Objects in view about three or four minutes and definitely not conventional or known aircraft according to three teenage and one adult GOC volunteers. AF instructor on duty notified TWIGG and OAK HILL radar sites. TWIGG had a jet in the area but disclaimed any radar sightings in vicinity.
