Narrative

At 1709Z on 31 July 1955 in St. Augustine, Florida, a civilian observed a round, white-or-silver object the size of a softball at arm's length, while watching low-flying aircraft. The object appeared at 85 degrees above the horizon (very high), remained for one hour and twenty minutes, then just disappeared. Observed with naked eye and binoculars of unknown power. Weather was clear with very few clouds. Radar maintenance officer noted: 'The amount of information available was not sufficient for a reasonable explanation.'
