Narrative
At 0415Z on 18 March 1956, a Torrance, California civilian and two witnesses first saw what appeared to be a meteorite over Palos Verde, then saw an object that was round when stationary and fish-shaped when turning. Object was bright white with violet rays extending from it. Hovered and turned at 210-270 degrees azimuth and 45 degrees elevation, then went behind a hill at Redondo Beach. Duration one hour 13 minutes. Observed visually and through a 15-power telescope. Flight 1-C investigation determined a blimp was aloft at the time per the Marine and Naval Training Center at Santa Ana; investigator believed sighting was caused by blimp.
