Narrative

At 0930Z 11 Oct 1953, SCR-584 radar operators observed a radar return suddenly appearing on the A-scope approaching a meteorological sounding balloon. The unidentified object followed the radar target for 3 minutes, then made a descending turn at approximately 500 feet per minute at 15 knots. Object faded off the scope as if making vertical ascent. In view approximately 10 minutes. Conclusion attributed to microwave transmission/reception phenomena.
