Narrative

A sighting of an unidentified flying object was reported by Mr. William H. Perry Jr. on 21 August 1948 at Montgomery, Alabama. AFOSI investigated and noted that Eastern Airlines Captain C. S. Chiles, while interviewed, stated his own sighting on 23 July 1948 (the Chiles-Whitted case, ~20-30 miles SW of Montgomery at ~0240, an object flying NE-to-SW at ~600 mph at 5000 feet altitude) did not occur on the same day as Perry's. The case was closed as unconventional aircraft, special inquiry.
