Narrative
On 7-8 May 1955 at approximately 0935 PST, a retired hotel owner in the San Diego area observed via ground-visual a white star-like object approximately 3 feet in diameter at 5 degrees elevation and 270 degrees azimuth. The object moved straight on a 270-degree heading and faded over about 2 minutes. Reported via 751st ACWRON Mt. Laguna. After checking astronomical charts, headquarters determined the object was improbably astronomical and ruled out drifting balloon by weather data; conclusion was possibly aircraft.
