Narrative
On 17 August 1955 at approximately 2042Z, a housewife on Ground Observer Corps duty in Roseville, California observed a round, silver, basketball-sized very bright object overhead. The object moved straight up and then drifted off; observation lasted approximately 10 minutes. A balloon released from Vernalis, California was known to be in the general vicinity, and the duration, description, and drifting motion led investigators to conclude this was probably a balloon.
