Narrative

At 1646Z on 21 March 1955 in San Francisco, California, an observer was watching a passing aircraft when they observed a round pinkish-orange object slightly larger than a pinhead at distance, traveling in an arc from northwest to northeast over twenty seconds before being lost from view. Weather was hazy and foggy with limited visibility. The 28th Air Division Director of Intelligence concluded the observer possibly saw the afterburner of a jet aircraft passing between him and the slower aircraft he was watching, with a turn in flight path hiding the afterburner.
