1956-03-22 — Highway US 40, two to three miles west of Dixon turnoff, Cal
Narrative
At 1015 PST on 22 March 1956, an observer driving on Highway US 40 two to three miles west of Dixon turnoff sighted a spherical, match-head-sized white object at 15 degrees elevation east-southeast from ground. Object headed northwest then changed to northeast with oscillating motion left to right, then faded away after 1-2 minutes. Observer sighted the object a second time at Xulu Causeway, same features except no oscillating motion. Visual observation only. Phone check with 3rd weather revealed two MDH-type balloons released from Vernalis approximately three hours before drifted over the area.
