Narrative
On 9 August 1955 at 0225Z (night) near Cunningham, Tennessee, a 45-year-old GOC Watch Supervisor observed a round bright red dinner-plate sized object via GOC observation with binoculars at 35,000 feet altitude. The object remained at the same position for 18 minutes, changing color to orange, then yellow, then fading. Clear skies, no wind, scattered clouds at 30,000 ft. Senior Controller concluded possible weather balloon.
