Narrative

On 9 August 1956 at 0415Z (night), Police Sgt. Darby of Tarrytown, NY (HJAM 4020) observed a yellow star-like object 5-6 times the size of the North Star. Object had light plus movement at very high altitude, moving very slowly southeast, still in sight at time of report. Weather clear, unlimited visibility. Duty officer (26th Air Division) opinion: sighting was due to astronomical phenomenon, possibly a shooting star.
