Around 26 August 1955 a 25-year-old civilian wholesale-house checker in Oakland, California sighted a basketball-sized dark blue ball with a tail on fire. The single object was observed at a 45-degree angle, blew up after sixty seconds. Weather was clear moonlight night with surface winds 235/05 knots. Three F-86D aircraft were vectored to the area from CAD but saw nothing. The 28th Air Division and 280th AISS Hamilton AFB submitted the report. No further conclusion stated.
