AISS-UFOB-232-55 — 1955-07-11 — Residence, Big Foot, Texas
Narrative
On 11 July 1955 at 2220Z, observers in Big Foot, Texas reported a round silvery-white object the size of a quarter held at arm's length, with streamers occasionally protruding. The object was first observed almost directly overhead (85 degrees elevation, 270 azimuth) and flew straight and level westward until disappearing from view 30 degrees elevation, 270 azimuth after approximately three hours. The day was clear; the SAAMA Kelly AFB Weather Bureau reported winds at 16,000 ft of 180 deg 18 knots. Major J. G. Davis, SAAMA, prepared the report. The 4602D AISS concluded the description, duration, and winds aloft probably indicate a balloon.
