Narrative

On 9 August 1956 at 0442Z (night), a 66-year-old civilian in Hesperus, Colorado observed a funnel-shaped yellowish object directly overhead. The object was stationary at first, then started going up to the southeast. The sighting was followed up by multiple observers; the object was later reported at BJMH 0313 at 0612Z by several people, finally disappearing at 0742Z at a great rate of speed. Fighters were scrambled but didn't appear over the post until 0516Z. Cause unknown.
