Narrative
At 0230Z on 2 July 1954, two enlisted Army Ordnance Corps personnel (Cpl. Schmus and Cpl. Hoffman, both art illustrators) observed two derby-hat-shaped objects with white crown lights and three bluish-white perimeter lights. The objects appeared in various formations: trail, tight side-by-side, and echelon. At one time the lead object flashed a bright light on the highway for about two seconds. The objects were at approximately 500 feet altitude, made a right turn and stopped, then disappeared toward the Delaware Bay Memorial Bridge. Sightings occurred over three separate periods totaling about 6 minutes. A droning sound caused strong vibrations felt by both observers.
