MNI1-1-E / MNI1-2-E / MNI1-3-E — 1955-01-11 — Multiple New Jersey locations: Rahway, Jersey City, Hudson B
Narrative
Approximately 2230 hours on 11 January 1955 at dusk, multiple observers in Rahway and Jersey City, New Jersey saw a ball-like object approaching at roughly a 45-degree elevation from the southwest, heading northeast in a straight course (or arc), then fading from sight after 4 to 50 seconds. The object emitted bluish-green and red flame sparks with a luminous wake. Reports came from at least three sources. The 12 January Jersey Journal reported a dump fire at the time of the sighting which was seen looking over smokestacks; cause of the sighting was undetermined though observers (one a former Air Cadet) believed the object was meteoric.
