Narrative

Between approximately 0945Z and 1005Z on 17 February 1953 over Willow, Alaska, an unidentified red light was sighted from C-47 aircraft AF 1042 by Captain Eugene S. Cramer and Major Joseph R. Lemon. The light was initially observed by Cramer about five minutes before Lemon spotted it, while bringing the aircraft into Elmendorf for landing. Investigation revealed no aircraft or weather balloons known to be in the area; the source officers were assessed as completely objective and reliable.
