AISS-UFOB-141-56 — 1956-05-29 — Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Narrative
On 29 May 1956 at 1540Z (day), Mr. and Mrs. (age 39, salesman) in Oklahoma City sighted a round, match-head-sized silver object. Witness was outside checking the weather; object first observed at 30-40 degrees elevation, went overhead and faded out at about the same degrees, moving slowly north with no maneuvers. Watched for 1 hour and 5 minutes before reporting. Topcoat diverted two 506th SFW aircraft, which searched the area at 45,000 ft visually but made no contact. Two F86D scrambled from Perrin searched with radar at 15-30,000 ft, no contact. Senior Director Leon D. Levesque noted insufficient objective info. Conclusion: probably balloon.
