Narrative

On 13 October 1954 at 2330Z (night), a 57-year-old lawyer observed an unidentified object from the sun deck of his San Antonio, Texas residence. The object first appeared as a shooting star at approximately 3000 feet, traveling east at over 1500 mph. The object then changed course sharply from level flight to a climb at approximately 80-85 degrees, ascending to estimated 10,000 feet altitude, before turning off to the right and continuing to climb at 30-35 degrees. The object emitted a hissing noise similar to escaping steam. Total sighting duration was 12-18 seconds. Cause unknown per base security division.
