Narrative
On 5 September 1955 at 0155Z, a casual observer of the sky in New York City saw a round, concave object that moved directly north at constant altitude and faded gradually from view over 30 to 90 seconds. Ground-visual observation only. 26th Air Div intelligence officer concluded UFO was possibly a jet-type aircraft; temperature inversion was considered highly unlikely as cause. No weather balloons aloft in area at time.
