On 20 September 1952 at approximately 0901Z at TAS 150 knots, Capt. J.W. Webster piloting a USAF C-47 (Number 3722) from Frankfurt to Berlin (Rhein/Main 0703Z to Tempelhof 0937Z) at 5,500 feet observed an undetermined number of unidentified, dirt-covered objects arranged in three east-west rows with doors facing south in the cleared corridor of the Born/Dolle Maneuver Area (approximately 5229N/1133E), Soviet Zone Germany. Visibility was 10 miles with clouds. 1st Lt. Trefter L. Thomas, 7350th Base Complement Squadron Air Intelligence Officer, vouched for Webster's reliability.
