Narrative
At 2002 MST on 30 December 1952, William T. Jones, AEC Security Inspector at Los Alamos, New Mexico, observed an unidentified aerial phenomenon from the sidewalk in front of his house. The object traveled in a slight curve at constant altitude from southeast toward northwest (heading approximately 320 degrees TN). The object emitted a high-pitched crackling sound that trailed it by four seconds. The object appeared fire red with no visible contrail. Duration was approximately 1.5 seconds. No jet aircraft were known to be in the area; no radar contacts. Observer was trained as aerial observer. Investigating officer Lt. Parrish noted the object may have been a low meteor producing sound.
