1953-04-16 — East Prairie, Missouri (112 William Street)
Narrative
On 16 April 1953 between 1510 and 1535 hours CST, four civilians in East Prairie, Missouri observed unidentified, unconventional flying objects southeast to east-southeast of their position. Initially a single object was seen trailing a USAF B-36, then after a sharp left turn three additional similar objects joined, completing a tight 360-degree maneuver before continuing in trail of the B-36 at greatly increased speed. Later three more objects were seen maneuvering ESE; one remained motionless for 10 minutes while two moved. Mr. Watson reported alternate flashing signals that were not in Morse Code. Weather was ideal with unlimited visibility. The 85th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Scott AFB had no missions at that time. No definite conclusions reached.
