Narrative
Prior to 1 September 1950, Mrs. Ilene Brink found an object resembling a large wind current observation kite in her yard at 907 Amador Street, Vallejo, California. Published in Vallejo News-Chronicle 1 September 1950. Investigation determined it was a RAVIN (Radar Vector Intensity Navigation) wind-observation device released by Sgt. H. C. Adornik's Detachment E, 3903rd Radar Bomb Strike Station, Treasure Island Naval Station. Devices released twice daily at 0800 and 1500 hours for meteorological purposes. The device was a foil-covered radar reflector kite attached to a hydrogen-filled rubber balloon.
