Narrative

On 31 July 1955 at 0330Z, a civilian GOC observer in Spokane, Washington reported a round shiny object at 045 degrees elevation, 10,000 ft altitude, drifting slowly NE. Visual observation lasted 15 minutes during dusk. The 5th Air Division at Geiger Field investigated. The 2nd Lt. Dutzman, controller, received the report at 0332Z; Geiger Tower confirmed a weather balloon had been released at 0315Z. GOC was notified the weather balloon probably accounted for the unknown object.
