Narrative

On the night of 17-18 November 1956, the staff duty officer at Ellsworth AFB received multiple telephone reports. At 0150 Mountain Standard Time, Korpi at State Police Radio Station reported an aircraft sighted at about 1000 feet just west of Aberdeen, SD, also five to ten miles west of Redfield. Object had dim red glow changing to bright red glow, hovered then moved to another location. Sighted by a farmer at 0150 Central Standard Time and by state police officers. At 0150 MST another object reported by State Police - blue-green and cone-shaped. Another state mobile in Walworth County reported an object that hovered over Mound City for about 30 minutes at 2030.
