Narrative
At 0201:55Z on 1 August 1956, an observer at Eglin AFB sighted a brilliant white stationary light at approximately 20 degrees elevation, 40 degrees azimuth, moving very slowly in a horizontal, slightly downward path. The object disappeared behind trees after approximately 6 seconds. Investigation revealed that the Air Force Armament Center was conducting a test with a stroboscopic light mounted on a F-89 aircraft flying away from observer at the time. Preparing officer concluded the sighting was likely the stroboscopic light test.
