Narrative

On 5-6 September 1956 starting around 0330Z, SPC Ronald H. Schalon at Camp Drum (Wheeler Sack AAF), New York observed a single cone-shaped object the size of a dime at 18 feet, color shifting pink to white. Object moved in an elliptical course at approximately 60-62 degrees elevation and 180 degrees azimuth, fading out and reappearing for about 1 hour 54 minutes. Viewed with binoculars on a clear night with light wind. Reporter noted that the object did move and finally disappeared after 1 hour 54 minutes, actions considered uncharacteristic of a star. Flight Service Center Olmsted AFB also reported and passed to 32nd Air Division for possible interception.
