Narrative
On 2 September 1955 at 0730Z at Hawthorne, California, an American Airlines communications employee observed a fairly bright light moving slowly from the north, hovering directly overhead with a bobbing motion, then proceeding west over the ocean and gradually disappearing. Duration approximately 12 minutes. A Goodyear blimp had been operating in the area on previous nights, but Flight 1-C investigation determined the blimp was inoperative at the time of the sighting. The 4602D AISS concluded possibly balloon based on duration, direction, and description.
