A salesman in Crescent City, Florida observed a luminous object larger than a basketball at 0307Z on 2 August 1956. The object appeared above the tree tops at a 45-degree elevation, stood still for a short time, then burst, rising above the trees and disappearing in approximately one minute under a clear sky with scattered clouds. Observed visually and with binoculars.
