Narrative
On 2 March 1956 at 2238Z (dusk), a civilian woman in Beloit, Wisconsin observed an oblong black object at approximately 1000 feet altitude. The observer initially thought it was an aircraft. The object stood still then gained altitude and disappeared. The total sighting duration was one and a half hours via ground visual and binoculars. Headquarters evaluated this as possibly a pibal-type balloon released at Beloit at 2100Z on the day of sighting.
