Narrative

At 0322:25Z (date not clearly specified in available text), Captain William A. Yonkers and 2nd Lt. Ronald D. Corbet of the 1739 Ferrying Squadron observed a bright metallic gold object from C-54 aircraft AF 4272581 at 6,000 ft, heading 350 degrees at 160 knots from Amarillo AFB. Object had exhaust trail (no contrail). At 10 degree angle at 350 degree azimuth. Object passed out of sight directly overhead due to canopy in approximately one second. No correlation with known flight plans or weather balloons. Both observers considered very reliable by CO. Note: insufficient date information to definitively place in window.
