Narrative

On 13 October 1954, an unidentified flying object was sighted by Mr. Worthy of Fort Worth, Texas while flying a privately owned aircraft in the vicinity of Guadalupe Pass, Texas. The object was bright, round in shape, with no discernible trail or exhaust, and appeared to the observer like a hovering helicopter. Estimated speed was 480 mph. The 34th Air Division (Defense) at Kirtland AFB believed the sighting was a misinterpretation, possibly a reflection of the sun. Surface winds 248 deg 12 kt; 20,000 ft 250 deg 25 kt.
