Narrative
On 17 July 1956 at 0740Z, a Mrs. (name redacted) in Long Beach, California observed a round white object with red flashes, pea-sized at arm's length. Object at 45 degrees elevation moving in a circle. Sighting continued for 26 minutes and was still in sight at last report. Observer reported object was no longer moving at 0806Z. Reporting officer noted clearest night Southern California had all year may have confused observer; concluded probably a planet (Mars).
