Narrative
At 09/0514Z April 1956, Albany Tower operator Leo Cline observed a star-like point at 314 degrees from tower, northwest, moving east to west and fading over the horizon. Visible 4 to 6 minutes via ground-visual aided by binoculars. The tower operator initially thought it was an incoming plane. A scrambled pilot experienced no joy. Conclusion was the sighting was probably astronomical with the planet Venus causing it.
