AISS-UFOB-372-55 / CIN 5168 — 1955-10-21 — Minneapolis, Minnesota
Narrative
On 21 October 1955 at 0200Z, an unidentified flying object was reported over Minneapolis, Minnesota by radar observers at the 31st Air Division, Snelling AFS, Minnesota. The 4602D AISS requested ATIC Form 332 electronics data sheets from all radar observers. ATIC's 12 December 1955 analysis (AFOIN-4Ey) found an unusually strong tropopause/temperature inversion from 33,800 to 39,200 feet and another less intense inversion at 4,980 feet. The case was evaluated as a probable optical and electronic reflection due to meteorological conditions.
