Narrative

At 0230Z on 27 July 1956, multiple civilian witnesses including a stenographer, salesman, and engineer at the Macon Waterworks in Macon, Georgia observed a bright orange ball of fire with two long tails. The object moved in straight, fast flight from northeast to southwest, with no maneuvering, before disappearing behind trees. Total observation time was 3-5 seconds. A Navy aircraft pilot landing at Robins AFB also observed what he described as a falling star. The investigating officer concluded the object was a meteor.
