747th AC&W Sq report — 1953-03-23 — Pasadena, Texas (over the city) and 12 miles north on radar
Narrative
On 23 March 1953 at approximately 0410Z, T/Sgt Patrick D. Liggett of the 747th AC&W Squadron observed a strange object over Pasadena, Texas. The object moved in a large circle, dull red in color at all times. Estimated speed 300-350 knots at 45,000 feet. The object moved left then right. Radar at the station picked up the object for three sweeps at 6 RPM with antenna tilt at 200, about the same size as a normal blip at that range, heading north at 12 miles. Separately, A/3c Leonard Duresea observed an oval-shaped object northwest of the site between 2030 and 2200 on 23 March 1953; the object's light flashed on and off and it stopped at scattered intervals. Mrs. Geneviere Hagerman, telephone operator at Ellington AFB, also reported related observations.
