On 30 August 1956 at 0310Z, an object was initially sighted from 920 McKean Avenue in Donora, Pennsylvania, by a postmaster (age 38), his wife, and a housewife with her 12-year-old son. Clouds obscured the sighting from 0340Z to 0355Z, and contact resumed at 0355Z until 0445Z. Conditions generally clear with 15 miles visibility. Binoculars were used during the major period of observation. Interceptor action was not considered appropriate as no radar contact was established. A local C-119 aircraft inbound from Morgantown was queried with negative results.
