Narrative
On 4 September 1953 at 0505Z, the aircraft commander Lt. Col. Hayes and observer Major George aboard C-47 aircraft 4206 observed a greenish-blue pulsating light for two minutes, ~2 feet in diameter, moving at over 500 MPH in opposite direction of their aircraft 25 miles distant, at estimated altitude 18,000-20,000 ft. C-47 was on heading 240 degrees at 10,000 ft. Object heading estimated 70-90 degrees magnetic. CAA Winslow radar could not track. CAA Zuni station independently reported the same observation. Weather was CAVU with no moon. Preparing officer noted the head-on flight paths argued against a normal jet exhaust.
