8D-24-0-411 — 1956-09-29 — Eight miles north of Wanis campground, near Prescott, Arizon
Narrative
On 29 September 1956 near Prescott, Arizona, an observer (a former military pilot familiar with aircraft) and his wife observed an unidentified flying object from a hammock 8 miles north of Wanis campground. The object resembled a comet, was observed at approximately 30 degrees elevation traveling east, covering an arc of approximately 50 degrees over 35-45 seconds at an estimated altitude of 20,000-30,000 feet. Distance covered no less than 50 miles, possibly much more. The observer's pilot training was used to rule out conventional aircraft.
